Learn how to crochet an easy and basic crochet hat with Firefly's Sarah Jamison! This is a beginner friendly hat meant to teach you many different techniques in one project. This hat uses the following techniques: crocheting in the round, Foundation Double Crochet stitch, Front Post / Back Post Ribbing, half double crochet, and half double decrease. This pattern creates a cozy hat that you will love to wear as the season gets colder.


Prerequisite
Must be comfortable with the single and double crochet stitches. The stitches we use in this pattern are variations of these stitches, so being comfortable making them will make learning these techniques easier. Check out our other videos for how-to's!

Materials

  • 2 skeins of Bulky Yarn - In the instructional video, we used Echoview Fiber Mill’s Ranger Bulky, 90% Merino, 10% Rambouillet, 140y/100g

  • Size J - 10 (6mm) Hook

  • Removable stitch markers

  • Tapestry needle
