In this class, we will cover techniques and methods on how to implement Ladder Back Jacquard stitches to colorwork charts and patterns when we want to make items that may require stretch or to achieve a neat and clean way to manage long floats in larger designs. We’ll be knitting the adorable You Silly Goose Socks from Stone Knits together to see how to add these techniques to a pattern that doesn’t give is explicit instructions on how to do so.

This winter, learn how to make a cable sweater! Cable knitting creates twists and braid textures by crossing stitches. These twists and braids create a plush fabric that helps trap in heat, making a warm sweater! Traditionally, these sweaters were popularized in Irish fishing villages, creating unique designs while also making the sweater warmer.

Our experienced instructor, Sarah, will guide you through every step of creating your cable sweater. Class instruction includes how to read a cable chart, German Short Rows, how to knit cables, and instruction on overall construction of your sweater.

Learn the basics of bobbin lace making in this exciting workshop brought to you by L.A.C.E., the Lacemaker's and Collector's Exchange! Bobbin Lace is a traditional textile craft that braids and twists threads together to create lace. Using “bobbins” to organize these threads, different lace designs can be created by hand! In this workshop, students will be creating a sampler bookmark, learning how to start a project, how to make the cloth stitch, whole stitch, and half stitch, and how to finish the project. Students will leave the class having made their own lace bookmark!

Materials are provided during the class, but cannot be taken home. If you are interested in take home materials, a beginner set is available for purchase at the end of class from the L.A.C.E Guild.

No experience required, this workshop is open to beginners.

The Fair Isle Knitting Course is a 10 week course designed to teach you all the facets of knitting a Fair Isle sweater! Fair Isle knitting, also known as stranded colorwork knitting, is a regional style to the Scottish highlands. This style uses many colors through out the sweater and repeating patterns to create a colorful and eye-catching sweater. Fair Isle sweaters are also unique in where you knit the whole sweater in the round, and then cut your knitting (steeking) to create the sleeves and cardigan. While these sweaters can be intimidating, our experienced instructor, Sarah, will guide you through every step of creating your Fair Isle sweater.

We will discuss the history of select sheep breeds, resources for learning more, and what types of wool are typically suited for what purposes. You'll work out with hands-on experience with different breed specific yarn, and lots of ideas of how to incorporate it into your making going forward.

Learn how to brew tea using the classic steeping vessel, the gaiwan, and learn the techniques that prepare you to intuitively steep any tea that comes your way.

Gong Fu Cha is the traditional method of serving tea in China. This introductory class teaches the foundational skills of gong fu cha, or the skill of brewing tea through mindful practice. Learn the traditional Chinese vocab for many tea terms, try different grips to help you pour your tea safely and confidently, and begin to build a foundational understanding to different modalities for pouring different types of teas.
